My name is Marco Mion.

I am on a journey to becoming an entrepreneur.

My life is a constant work in progress.

I am a husband.

I am a father of two girls and one boy.

My passions are cycling, climbing, skiing, surfing, photography, and writing music.

My favourite colour is blue.

My favourite place to be is by the ocean with the sand between my toes.

Work

My work life is built around empowerment. As General Manager for M CON Products, my day job is all about giving people the support they need to thrive in their roles, whether I’m in the office or traveling abroad.

Life is meant to be enjoyed alongside others, especially at work. This isn’t a typical “9-5”; being a part of a niche manufacturer means collaborating with others who share the same values and drive to succeed, all working towards a common goal. From the DU Lifestyle brand I created straight out of college to where I am today, it has been a rewarding journey with many lessons learned along the way.

Family

With three kids under the age of four, home life is never boring for the Mions. While my wife and I keep busy, blocking time to spend as a family is absolutely vital. Whether we’re hiking NCC trails or doing activities at home, time with family is never wasted.

We want our kids to be well-rounded, engaged adults, and for us that starts with giving them room to roam and the freedom to fail. Every day as parents teaches us something new.

Adventure

My family went to Florida every year when I was growing up. This sparked my love of travel and my desire to bring my family around the world with me. Visiting new locales triggers new ways of thinking and opens our eyes to the cultures around us.

But adventure isn’t just about where you are, it’s about what you’re doing. My time in the band We Were Sharks taught me that; I learned to play a Micro Korg MIDI keyboard just so I could join. Whether I’m flying to another country or learning a new skill at home, adventure is a daily mindset.

Health & Fitness

For me, every day starts with an intentional focus on self-improvement. I wake up at 05:00 and jumpstart myself mentally and physically with tone-setting activities like yoga, strength training, or journaling—oftentimes with a child in tow. As an avid skier, runner, cyclist, swimmer, and rock climber, I’m constantly moving.

My goal is to be around to play sports and do activities with my kids as they grow up. The manufacturing and construction industry has fallen far behind in matters of health, and one of my driving principles is inspiring others to know it’s possible to maintain your health and fitness while working in this industry.

DU Lifestyle

DU Lifestyle was a brand from but not limited to Ottawa, Canada. We designed and produced apparel and media for a life influenced by music, art, sport & travel.

DU ultimately means YOU – derived from the Swedish word for ‘you’.

Creativity and passion flow through our network of friends and family. Our goal was to connect people through our apparel and start conversations where there were none. The DU Crew were individuals from all walks of life who influenced what we shared in hopes of inspiring and experiencing new ideas.

We Were Sharks

I joined We Were Sharks (ex. Sharks!) in the summer of 2010 after attending a backyard party with some friends. I had initially purchased a midi Micro Korg keyboard to accompany some music I was recording. The band was new, I didn’t know much about the keyboard, but I still attended the first practice.
